Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My work engages with urban settings and landscapes in unexpected ways through a blend of printmaking, photography, and installation. Set in familiar but unidentified locations, the work evokes the anonymity of the city. Rather than documenting sites known for their historic significance or inherent beauty, I render mundane everyday spaces newly disorienting through deliberate glitches, discoloration, gaps and cropping.

Though based on photographic source material, the work takes a unique approach to printed objects, and new modes of displaying them. By manipulating the installation strategies and spatial relations between the pieces, I encourage a slowed-down, decentralized reading of the work, linking the sensory experience of viewing the exhibition to the in-the-moment presence of a place.
