Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Yeo is buffering. As she emerges from dissociation, she begins the deliberate work of building ceramic self-portraits, each one a step toward Ghoul - her spirit and the light that asserts her will. Torn from Ghoul in order to survive the compounding effects of PTSD, Yeo now uses form and fire to bridge the distance between them - tender, fractured forms that beckon. Neither fixed nor resolved, these sculptures are sites of yearning, grief, and becoming. The ceramic body is a signal fire, transmitting the presence of a reassembling self.
