Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My studio practice is informed by emotions that arise daily between accepting and rejecting change. From the ways that I think to the ways that I feel and look, my memory-based identity is constantly shifting within this aging body. There is a desire to anchor myself, if only momentarily, to the things that I make. I incorporate some of my photographs and prints into sculptures and installations inspired by a wide range of preventative, preservation, and recovery practices. References include skincare, fitness, physical therapy, food preservation, craft traditions, archives, object conservation, funerary customs, historic restoration, and museology. I am interested in the material outcome of actions that attempt to defy the nature of impermanence.
