Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

BIO
Kristin Capp is a visual artist from Seattle, working between Namibia and New York. Over a decade of living and working in Namibia deepened her engagement with postcolonial discourse and led her to explore photography as a tactile, material process shaped by social and ecological histories. Capp works with historic and experimental techniques—phytograms, anthotypes, and lumen prints—often using expired darkroom papers sourced from defunct labs active during Namibia’s apartheid era.
Her work has been supported by fellowships and residencies from the American Academy in Rome as Visiting Artist, a Fulbright Fellowship in Photography in Namibia, a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship in Bellagio, Italy, and a Sacatar Foundation Fellowship in Bahia, Brazil. She has published three photography books, including "Hutterite: A World of Grace", "Americana" (Stemmle, Switzerland), and "Brasil" (Damiani, Italy), reflecting her long-standing interest in social histories and storytelling across the U.S., Brazil, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Capp’s recent projects, developed along the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines and most recently during her time in Rome, address environmental themes and continue her exploration of sustainable photography practices and their relationship to ecology and cultural memory. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in both public and private collections.
