Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

I attended San Jose State University and studied with Alton Sultan, and graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in studio art, painting. There, I studied with the Photorealistic artist Robert Bechtle. I have many bodies of work and have never stopped painting since I started around high school years.

I paint oil on canvas 30 by 40” or 36 by 48” typically. Although I have studied anatomy, perspective, composition etc. my goal in painting is to tap into the unconscious. During the process of making a painting I allow myself the freedom of being expressive over accurate. I enjoy Ken Kiff, Victor Brauner, Salvador Dali, Edvard Munch and Marc Chagall among others.

Dali said he painted hypnagogia, and I do the same.
