Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME
Molly Burt-Westvig is a visual artist working in moving image, installation, and painting to challenge dominant paradigms of perception, time, and the sublime. Engaging with industrial materials and urban infrastructure, her work subverts systems of power embedded in industry and the history of painting. Through the use of salvaged automotive debris—like glass and steel—she constructs new media sculptures that explore the poetics of refusal, dismantling symbols of American progress, masculinity, and acceleration. Her work reintroduces industrial remnants into the natural world through illusion, light, movement, and atmosphere—breezes, sunlight, water, and shadows—which form immersive environments that stretch time into infinite loops. In repurposing materials tied to speed and destruction, Burt-Westvig proposes an alternative potential—one that unravels imposed structures and reconfigures fragments into a vision beyond the known.
Burt-Westvig received her MFA in 2024 from the Tyler School of Art and was featured in New American Paintings #165 that same year. In 2025 she received the American Austrian Foundation Seebacher Prize for Fine Arts and attended the Salzburg International Summer Academy. She has participated in international and national residencies, including at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA and PILOTENKUECHE in Leipzig, Germany. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and project spaces across the U.S. and abroad.
