Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Adam Cutts (b. 1991) is a Canadian artist living in New York and practicing sculpture. Trained in architecture and in geography, his practice is involved in both invention and an interest in histories and embedded meaning in construction and mark-making. Adam holds a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley, where he was awarded the Mario Ciampi award for art in architecture for his thesis work. His research in art and architecture was also awarded a 4 month Branner Traveling Fellowship. This research documented sites in rapidly changing areas of Sendai, San Francisco, Istanbul, and Milan, speculating on a public potential within caustic reflection and relationships of existing geometries and materials of the city that have come with the mass proliferation of double and triple paned window assemblies.

His work has been exhibited with Guadalajara90210 in Mexico City, Ki Smith Gallery in New York, Citygroup in New York, American Institute of Architects in Oakland, CA, Gallery Petite in Brooklyn, NY, Studio 313 in Montréal, QC, and a public art commission for the City of Ottawa, Canada. Currently he is working on a site-specific sculpture and landscape commission on Sado Island, Japan.
