Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Jared Friedman lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. His work creates monuments out of banal common objects by animating the inanimate and questioning our understanding of sentimentality. By exploring the ambiguity of the unremarkable, he parses the difference between knowing and understanding. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at D.D.D.D. Pictures, New York (2023-24); and group exhibitions at Watercolour Society, New York (2024); Morris Adjmi Architects, New York (2023); Noguchi Museum, New York (2023); NYCxDESIGN, New York (2023); 205 Hudson Gallery, New York (2023); Brooklyn Museum, New York (2013); and Hunter College, New York (2023). He is the recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant in 2023. Friedman received his MFA from Hunter College in May 2023.
