Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME
Alexandre Camarao lives and works in Lisbon. His work usually takes the form of drawing or painting,
but also video, sound and tapestry.
He finished the Advanced Course in Visual Arts at Ar.Co and attended the Photography Course also at Ar.Co.
selected for an artist residency at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 2017 and
developed artist residencies in the textile area with Cortex Frontal and Vale de Gatos.
He was selected for the 11th Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Award; winner of the Mauro Mattei Art Trust 1st Acquisiton
Prize (with Bernardo Simões Correia) and finalist of the "Open21 Prize", at MOSTYN, Wales. He exhibited at ZDB
in 1994 and 2000. Participated in the project Wc Container by Paulo Mendes. Exhibited at Espaço AZ with Maria Ana Vasco
Costa and Ar Sólido with Sérgio Carronha. He has exhibited at Museu Geológico and A Montanha, in Lisbon and was part of the
Sara & André's BIS exhibition at António Duarte Museum, Caldas da Rainha. Latest exhibitions: Uma Pequena
História da Linha at Casa da Cerca in Almada; Double Negative at Chashama ;Strange Days: Hit Pause at White
Columns, both in New York, Mauro Mattei Art Trust in Milan, Deflatable Aesthetics at Balcony Gallery;
CORIUM, ABCC (with Bernardo Simões Correia) at Brotéria, both in Lisbon, A Linha Está Ocupada, at CITA
in Arraiolos and Portmanteau at Balcony Gallery.
He also works as a musician and DJ in the area of electronic music. He performed at ZDB, Lux / Frágil,
Número Festival and Citemor. He participated with a musical collaboration in the exhibition "Sonic Process" at Centre
Georges Pompidou in Paris and MACBA in Barcelona, Atlântico Festival in Lisbon and Bienal da Maia in Porto.
He has published albums and remixes.
