Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Eric Bohrer works within a newer-objectivity, a self-aware critical philosophy that is drawn to the labor, time, and material necessary for the performance of the specific cultural ritual of producing art. He seeks to observe process as its own image and subject. From his observations he adds to an ever-growing library of exaggerated figures and abstract forms through a variety of visual techniques, including stone carving, metalworking, and silk screen printing to name just a few. Each form is a direct product of its respective making process, through which Bohrer is able to connect himself and the viewer within a moment in and out of time.

While attending Reed College in Portland, Oregon, Eric designed and printed graphic material for concerts organized by local promoters Angel Booking, between 2015 and 2017. His first installation Archive b/w Estate, was featured as a part of Reed Arts Week 2015. He has since created, exhibited, and sold his work across the country while working as a library technician, production artist, wholesale delivery driver, and exhibit fabricator. Recently his work has been featured as a resident at Carrie Able Gallery in Williamsburg. His silk screen prints have been shown as a part of national printmaking exhibitions at Webster Arts in St. Louis, Missouri and Artlink Contemporary Gallery in Fort Wayne, Indiana. His series of sculptural and performance pieces from the fall of 2021, Visions of Social Control, was designated “Best in Show” as a part of the annual College of Art and Design Visual Showcase at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Bohrer graduated in 2017 with a BA of Art History from Reed College, and earned an MFA of Studio Art at Rochester Institute of Technology in 2022. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
