Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Chinatsu Ikeda is a Japanese artist who currently lives and works in Berlin. She received her BFA and MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Her work is about every day materials that could be transformed into a sublime form of art. Her imaginations jump off and sing; her immediate approach of materials through pattern, form and mark-making envision her world.

Ikeda proves that imagination is her most essential artistic tool. The variety of everyday materials she uses transforms into what she refers to as her ‘rainbow’ in her mind.
