Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

Bio

Meredith Sellers (b. 1988, Baltimore, MD) is an artist and writer living and working in Philadelphia. She holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Conflating the centuries-old concept of painting as window with the infinite windows of the digital screen, her works utilize images appropriated from stock photography, digital advertisements, art history, and news media to examine systems of power and violence. Sellers has exhibited at Workplace (London, UK), Fragment (NY, NY), Swivel Gallery (BK, NY), Take It Easy (Atlanta, GA), Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery at UArts (Phila, PA), Vox Populi (Phila, PA), and ICA Philadelphia (Phila, PA), among others. Her work has been featured in Art PapersMaake Magazine, and White Column’s Curated Artist Registry. Curatorial projects include Chewing the Scenery at Icebox Project Space, The Midnight Sun at Pilot Projects (both co-curated with Jonathan Santoro), and Edith at Esther Klein Gallery. Her writing has appeared in publications including Hyperallergic, The Philadelphia Inquirer, ICA Philadelphia’s Notes, Pelican Bomb, and American Craft Magazine.
