Artist Registry


The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Lisa Young's practice centers around collecting, analyzing and repositioning image and text fragments to examine cultural ideals and the desiring self. Among her exhibition venues are the Cue Art Foundation, The Getty Research Institute, White Columns, and Bard College. Her commissioned works include a billboard at 6150 Wilshire Boulevard, LA (Clockshop/Julia Meltzer), an artist book project for Cabinet Magazine, and a web archive developed with the Scholarly Technology Group at Brown University. Her work is represented in the permanent collections of MoMA NY, the Harvard Art Museums, RISD, and the Archive for New Media Art at Cornell University, and her artist book/print editions have been distributed through Karen McCready Fine Art, Printed Matter, Pace Prints, and Art Metropole. She is recipient of awards from the National Endowment for the Arts/New England Foundation for the Arts and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, from which she was awarded grants in both Photography and Film/Video. Her work has been reviewed in ArtForum, ArtNews, The New York Times, and The Brooklyn Rail, among others. Young was a Fellow in the Whitney ISP. In 2024, Young will be in residence at the American Academy in Rome Artists and Scholars Program.
