Artist Registry


The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Lisa Young's practice centers around collecting, analyzing and repositioning found and made image and text fragments to examine cultural ideals and the desiring self. Young's work has been shown internationally and in the United States at White Columns, the Wexner Center for the Arts, CCS Bard Hessel Museum, Print Center New York, KADIST, UCLA, and the Cue Art Foundation. Her commissions include projects with Clockshop, Cabinet Magazine, and the Scholarly Technology Group at Brown University. Her work is held in the collections of MoMA NY, The Getty Research Institute, the New York Public Library, the Harvard Art Museums, RISD, the Cornell University Library Archive, and the Lenbachhaus Library Collection, Munich. Her artist book/print editions have been distributed through Printed Matter, Pace Prints, and Art Metropole. She has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts/NEFA grant in Works on Paper and has received Rhode Island State Council on the Arts grants in Photography and Film/Video. In 2024, Young was in residence at the American Academy in Rome Artists and Scholars Program. Publications include Artforum, ArtNews, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Brooklyn Rail, among others. Young was a Fellow in the Whitney ISP and teaches in the MFA Printmaking Department at the Rhode Island School of Design.
