Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My paintings are the result of a constant struggle between a lonely character’s expression and the physicality of the paint itself. Colour, material and gesture are the fundamental elements of my work.

While I don’t find the act of feigning reality, such as using perspective or chiaroscuro, particularly interesting, I am fascinated by the reality of the painting itself as two-dimensional object.

I use impasto primarily to make my presence tangible.

I have always been drawn to human faces, finding a prominent nose more captivating than a vase of flowers.
