The White Columns Curated Artist Registry
is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
A small event in our everyday life can reflect and refract larger contemporary social and political issues — my work reinterprets minor histories, memories, and relationships, staging banal disruptions of social expectations. I collect and create stories that describe realities stranger than fiction. My work obscures what is real using layers of metaphors, satire, and humor. The work performs political and social critique by taking a fictional approach to reality. My source materials include appropriated images, animations, and documentary footage. These elements are condensed into disjointed essayistic speculation using text and imagery. The work explores the topics of belief systems, affection, procreation, migration, power and the hierarchies in which these things are located. I develop my projects through research, interviews, and by collecting stories from real life as well as historical and popular sources. The work responds to contemporary social problems by reinterpreting history, memory, and relationships using the quotidian and the banal we see around us every day.
I moved around all my life. I switched schools growing up. I moved to different countries, different cities, and different apartments. By inhabiting a world that's continually shifting led me to develop a keen sense of observation and an expanded sense of learning. I learned to imitate people in my new environments, to observe strangers, to become like the strangers I encountered in these environments to fit in. I have always been interested in how a person understands and sees the world, how a person identifies with themselves and others. Society often categorizes and compartmentalizes our bodies into groups which affect how we view and experience the world. Yet a person consists of many intersected elements irreducible to a unique identification. The work I produce speculates on and expands into a future where multiplicity and intersectionality of identity and culture are newly imagined, created and mediated.
