"Rising Divergence” focuses on the popular Vietnamese national creation myth epic, often referred to as “the 100 egg story”. The video compares this story with creation myths, from around the world, far removed from the Vietnam. “Rising Divergence” explores the central theme of separation as it is used within the narrative of each of these creation myths, uncovering connections between each and the “100 egg story” of Vietnam. Using costuming to reference these cultures, “Rising Divergence” subtly plays out “the 100 egg story” by touching on certain aspects of the myth. The story telling of the Dogon from Mali, Miao from China, Lakota from North America and Rabari from India, are each examined throughout the piece, as they relate with the Vietnam myth.
"Ephemeral Passage" divulges the final voyage of an evolving primordial character that first began his journey in High Arctic Link (2015). While exploring the Arctic’s unique landscape, this character draws connections between a barren environment, at the top of the world, and the rest of human culture. In this final passage, he finally confronts the viewer directly, yet still remains elusive.
"High Arctic Link" is a 26-minute, single channel HD video debunking the clichéd view that the High Arctic is an isolated region, primarily unlinked to mankind.
"Perpetual Heliolatry" explores historical and contemporary solar belief systems surrounding our affinity with the sun. Long-standing religious, mythical and scientific beliefs have spanned civilizations, and through this nonlinear narrative, we see how our converging lines unfold around one star.
