The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
My paintings are reductive in means, investigating the complexities of color through hard-edged, geometric divisions of color.
I choose paint as my medium for color for it’s directness, physicality, opticality, luminescence, and presence.
I paint primarily on aluminum panels because the paint sits flat on the surface, without depth, and the aluminum panels project the colored surface off the wall.
What drives the work for me is the desire to situate a group of colors together on a surface in a way that allows the color to expand and breath, or to clash and compress. I look for a moment of resolution with a set of colors, yet I realize each painting may offer only a tenuous solution, one of many possibilities for a set of colors.
