The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
I make sculptures with pigmented plaster and recycled materials. By rendering the body in a fantastical manner, my work questions what is normal and what is desirable. In referencing body parts, foods and domestic objects my work plays with our sensibilities of attraction and horror, delight and dread. The body is a source of so much anxiety and I counter this by encouraging people to touch and explore a sensual pleasure between their hand and my sculptures. Ultimately my work reminds us that our relationship with the world needs to be renegotiated with our imperfect and limited bodies in mind.
