The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
My goal as an artist it to make objects and works on paper that speak to problems that lay at the core of human relationships: promises are broken and the actual falls short of the expectation. This vision is largely informed by my experiences as a social worker. Social work requires the navigation of complex institutional and familial hierarchies. Each intervention is unique and presents an all-pervading risk of collapse. My work is not a critique but rather a distillation from observation and personal experience. I want to both investigate and represent how we navigate, sustain and sometimes see a-new the dissonant circumstances we confront every day.
