Cecilia Schmidt is fascinated with themes surrounding the relationship between humans, animals and the natural world.
She has been examining the meaning of moving through nature in time, remembering or imagining experiences in nature, and watching the natural world on the television or the computer, with its ability to endlessly reproduce images.
Her work in photography, painting, sculpture and video has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
"Cecilia Schmidt is an artist preoccupied with the brokenness of experience. Schmidt is persuaded that comforting illusions of progress hide in the ubiquitous images of the real distributed so casually by advertising, television and news photography." Jay Rosen
