The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
I am creating abstractions out of quotidian life. Paintings that offer an escape from the mundane by attending to its fine-spun aspects, color and light, memory and imagination.
The images are constructed through the use of an invented language- a language developed through the repeated use of luminous shapes. This language allows me to articulate thoughts and feelings that go beyond linguistic capabilities.
Each piece draws from a vivid recollection, whether it is squinting in glistening sunlight at palm trees on the beach, or gazing at moonlight beaming into a bedroom at night. These are fleeting experiences rendered in oil paint in order to distill time.
