The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
Through my work I am communicating with the relationships and phenomena in between spaces. I am interested in the voids that occur between occurrences, emotions, tangible objects and beings. These elements at first seem like totem poles or rails, illustrative and tangible, but more and more this space cannot be illuminated with those totemic rails themselves, and they stand more as bookmarks, signaling that something might have or may happen here. In my most recent work I have been experimenting with forming the surface into irregular shapes, and paying special attention to the body of forms and symbols that I have collected over time by allowing them to change meaning against one another as they reappear from work to work. Although I choose to use representation as a base for imagery, I am not interested in constructing sentences, rather in observing the development of visual language when recognizable forms rub shoulders.
