The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
In a pursuit to investigate personal relationships to cultural dislocation, memory, nature, and site, Ketta Ioannidou’s work attempts to build bridges between different worlds and realities. It exists in a dreamlike state between two worlds creating a fleeting, weightless moment. Her paintings and digital collages migrate between water, sky and land. Exploring the idea of navigating to a place where something new begins, yet where all times co-exist, the works become a form of continuous renewal, moving towards a source that is constantly moving like a river, but composed of memories. A tension exists between real and artificial, creating an atmosphere where the viewer can glimpse the outlines of another world beneath the surface.
