The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
For the past ten years I have created concept driven, labor-intensive, text-based drawings that investigate the ways that language, thought, and information relate to contemporary culture and the creation of self. I utilize information from a variety of printed and online sources including The New York Times, Artforum, Amazon.com, and the dictionary. Drawing from 1960s and 1970s conceptual art, Zen Buddhism, information overload and data collection practices my work explores an intersection between text and drawing and the ways that language and information function, shape and reflect contemporary thought and belief.
