The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
Olivia Valentine (b. 1979, Stamford, CT) shows her architectural scale textile installations both nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include solo exhibitions at Pasajist (Istanbul) and Happy Collaborationists Exhibition Space, (Chicago) and group exhibitions at the American Academy in Rome (Italy), Page Bond Gallery (Richmond, VA), the Rijswijk Museum (The Netherlands), Maquis Projects (Izmir, Turkey) and Arlington Arts Center (Arlington, VA).
Olivia received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. In 2013-14 Olivia was the Fountainhead Fellow in Fibers at Virginia Commonwealth University. Other recent awards include a Fulbright Fellowship for Installation Art in Turkey (2012-13), The Founding President’s award from the Textile Society of America for excellence in Textile Studies (2014) and the Brandford/Elliott Award for excellence in Fiber Arts (2012) She is also the co-director of Flash Atölye, which began as a community based project space in a commercial arcade in Izmir, Turkey in 2012 and recently completed a landscape intervention at Museo dell'Altro e dell'Altrove di Metropoliz (MAAM) in Rome in collaboration with the design collective Commonstudio and supported by an interdisciplinary project grant from the American Academy in Rome. She is an Assistant Professor of Art and Visual Culture at Iowa State University.
