The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
New York based artist Jamie Diamond works principally with photography, performance and video. Her photographs explore the role of performance and artificiality within the ostensible realism of her medium. Through collaborations with strangers, mimes, professional actors and untrained outsider artists, Diamond uses recognizable photographic genres and role-play to construct events, and forge artificial histories and relationships for the camera She received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and BA from the University of Wisconsin and is the recipient of the NYFA Fellowship Award in Photography (2014)and the Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship Award (2008). Diamond has participated in various artist residency programs including: Mass MoCA (2016), Skidmore Artist Residency (2016), The Bronx Museum (2014), Mana Residency (2014), LMCC Swing Space residency (2013), LMCC Work Space residency (2008-2009). Since 2009, Diamond has been lecturing in photography at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently the Undergraduate Photography Coordinator of UPenn?s Fine Art Department.
