Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

Tidal Culture: Greenland

2009
Tidal Culture (2004-ongoing) is compromised of three components: hour-long video captures; objects sculpted, woven or knit of seaweed, and photographs which document the land and seascape. This work began by tracking various species of seaweed common to the North Atlantic. Algae interests me because it does not honor human established boundaries. The videos place me at the shoreline, looking out in the act of questioning personal and cultural perspective.
