The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
Through sculpture, photography, video, and drawing, I reference the history of visual technologies and our unceasing explorations of landscape, the deep seas, and outer space. As a strategy, I distill seemingly complex optical phenomena to create low-tech approximations or analogies. Using styrene, a white plastic used in prototyping, I fabricate sculptural objects that are speculative, unnecessary, and sometimes ridiculous. With their moving components and systems of mirrors and lenses, my objects approach the functionality, performativity and complexity of machines. I incorporate photography and video as documentation, process, and content.
