In early 2011 I was hired as a freelance art-handler for AIG. My job was to destroy a room full of large framed photographs, mostly of buildings, towers, banks and skyscrapers from all over the world. At one time AIG owned all of these properties, but in 2008 they began selling them off in an effort to pay back the government 'bailout'. Inspired by my situation, I re-photographed the collection and began gathering head-shots of figures involved in the 2008 financial crisis. Using a computer, my hand, and a printing-machine I customized to hold paintbrushes, I began putting the images to paper. |
