The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
I was born and raised in northwest Rhode Island (1955). After high school I studied to be an x-ray technician and worked in hospitals for over 20 years. I raised two sons and now live in Vermont, where I work on my drawings from my apartment.
The physical and mental hardships I suffered from childhood throughout adulthood often manifest as subjects in my drawings. A forced childhood adoption, motherhood, young love, trees and birds are recurring icons mixed within a menagerie of unidentifiable amorphic creatures from my imagination.
I have no formal artistic education and did not begin drawing until my sixties.
I have never publicly exhibited my work but was recently excepted to the Pierogi Gallery Flatfiles:
