Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME

Greg Brown

Greg Brown graduated from USC Cinema in animation and later from the Pasadena Art Center in fine arts.  Brown worked as a scenic artist at ABC-TV.  He painted sets for award shows, like the Grammys and Muppet Specials. His collage paintings became tactile with fake fur and flocking when volunteering at the Braille Institute.  He showed in group shows in LA, including Rosamund Felsen and L.A.C.E., before relocating to NYC. His first solo show in NYC was at White Columns in 1993.  Brown attended Skowhegan 1995 and was hired later to setup a digital media lab there.  Exhibits in 2020-21 in NYC include a solo exhibit at Shelter Gallery and The Yard in midtown as well as curating and exhibiting at the 2020 Spring/Break Show.
