The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online catalog of digital images documenting the work of artists who are not affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City. Each submission is reviewed by our curatorial staff; in order to be considered for the registry, one must submit work digitally via this website.
Juanli CarrioĢn, Yecla (Spain), 1982. Lives and works in New York. His work has been exhibited internationally in venues like the Art Institute of Chicago, Abrons Arts Center, Y Gallery, Friedman Benda Gallery or BAM in the US; ARTIUM Museum of Contemporary Art, La Casa Encendida, MuVIM, Rosa Santos Gallery or Centro Parraga in Spain; Ex-Teresa Museum, San Luis Potosi Center for the Arts or MUPO in Mexico; National Museum of Art in Trinidad & Tobago; Museum of Contemporary Art in Peru; or Rum46 in Denmark among many others. In 2014 he began his series of geopolitical gardens Outer Seed Shadow commissioned so far by the NYC Dept of Parks & Recreation, La Nau Museum in Valencia and Contemporary Art Center La Conservera. He has participated in renowed residency programs like Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) Workspace (2012) & Process Space (2015) and ISCP (2011-12) in New York; Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca (2005) and Central ADM (2012) in Mexico; Kuona Trust in Kenya (2006); or EspacĢ§o Fonte in Brazil (2014). He has received awards and grants including the Prize “Generations” (2012), Iniciarte Grants (2009 and 2010) Grants from the Ministry of Culture of Spain (2010 and 2013), Foundation for Contemporary Arts in New York (2014) or Broklyn Arts Council (2016) among others. In June 2016 he opened his second commission by the City of New York, a publica art installation in Fort Greene Park.
