She graduated with a degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later studied art and design at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She received an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2002.

She has exhibited her work in Michigan, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Finland.

She is a two-time recipient of a 7-month fellowship in the visual arts at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
