Carrie Scanga was born in 1977 in western Pennsylvania and received her training from Bryn Mawr College (BA) and from the University of Washington (MFA). She has been a resident at The MacDowell Colony and Sculpture Space, and in 2004 she received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship. In 2004 and 2005 she was granted two Winter Fellowships at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, and in 2007 she was the Louisiana State University Professional in Residence. This year she received a grant from the Pollock Krasner Foundation.
Carrie Scanga's installations, prints, and drawings have recently been exhibited at El Conteiner Gallery in Quito, Ecuador, the International Print Center New York, Artspace in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the Islip Art Museum on Long Island. She lives in Maine.
